Residents at Clear Creek Memory Care in Fayetteville, Arkansas are proving that a little rhythm can go a long way toward supporting brain health. They’re keeping mentally active through a unique mix of music, movement, and exercise.
The program is called “Drums Alive – Golden Beats”, a cardio drumming program designed to stimulate memory and cognitive function.
Participants use drumsticks, shakers, and boom whackers while moving to music that helps spark memories and engage both sides of the brain. According to their instructor, Hachya Franklin, the activity may also support circulation, brain health, and overall wellness.
The innovative program has earned recognition from the Dementia Society of America for its contributions to memory care.
