Clear Creek Memory Care resident Donnie McDonald recently enjoyed a special morning on the water at Clarence Craft Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas, along with fellow residents and staff.
At 86, Donnie has spent much of his life outdoors. He and his son Kevin shared many hunting trips over the years, including fishing trips with friends to Canada and Mexico.
Now that Donnie lives at Clear Creek, opportunities to enjoy activities he has loved throughout his life are especially meaningful. For Kevin and his siblings, joining the residents on Tuesday’s fishing trip was a chance to spend time with their dad and enjoy something that has always been a part of his life.
For families living with dementia, familiar activities provide opportunities to spend meaningful time together. For Donnie, his family, and Clear Creek residents, this fishing trip was a chance to enjoy the outdoors, share memories, and reconnect with their love of fishing.
The outing was featured on local Channel 5 News, which you can watch here.
