May has been a busy month at our Anthem Memory Care communities. But then, when aren’t we busy? We know how important it is for individuals living with dementia to continue to lead vibrant lives engaging in activities that are meaningful, purposeful and enjoyable. And it is our privilege to make those activities possible.
Now that the weather is cooperating, there are more outdoor activities to enjoy and more opportunities to visit residents’ favorite local parks, restaurants, museums, and other special venues. Flowers are blooming, the days are getting longer and, with hints of summer in the air, we’re drinking in every moment of this beautiful season.
There have been so many special moments and activities to celebrate. Here are some of them:

The planters are in full bloom at Clear Creek Memory Care in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Residents love to work with the soil and nurture the plants. The stunning results are well worth their efforts!

Vineyard Place Memory Care in Murrieta, California wasn’t about to let Cinco de Mayo pass by without a fun fiesta including great music and dancing!

In preparation for Mother’s Day, Chelsea Place Memory Care women were treated to a special Queen for a Day spa day. And they truly got the “royal” treatment with hair styling, nails, and skin care. They loved the pampering … and deserve it!

Residents of Emerald Place Memory Care in Glenview, Illinois enjoyed exploring the Botanic Gardens. From vibrant tulips to bonsai trees, it was a truly delightful afternoon for all.

The resident-planted strawberries are ripe and ready to be enjoyed at Liberty Place Memory Care in West Chester, Ohio. Resident gardeners are continuing to do what they love!

A favorite outing of Willow Springs Memory Care residents in Redding, California is to visit Mary Lake and feed the geese. Fresh air, sunshine, and lots of conversation. What a great way to spend an afternoon!

So many Mother’s Day celebrations! Here is a special moment captured at Vineyard Place Memory Care in Murrieta, California.

Not too many couples are fortunate enough to celebrate seventy years of marriage, which made Robert and Helen’s 70th even more special for everyone at Porter Place Memory Care in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Willowbrook Place Memory Care residents in Littleton, Colorado paid a special visit to Fort Logan National Cemetery and placed flags on some of the graves in a pre-Memorial Day outing.
How was your month of May? Ready for summer? We certainly are and our Anthem Memory Care communities are busy making plans for a full, meaningful season with lots of moments of joy to share.
If you are caring for a loved one with dementia, make an effort to get them outdoors more often. Whether it’s a visit to the park or just some quiet moments out on the porch, the fresh air, sunshine, and blooming foliage bring powerful health benefits!
