There is so much to love about June. For one thing, it brings the official start of summer. And that’s just fine with our residents! The milder weather enables our Anthem communities to schedule more outdoor activities, such as walks, park outings, and visits to our favorite local eateries and other attractions. It gets our residents out into the community more frequently, keeping them connected with the world around them. They love the many interactions. And so do we!

Here are some of our favorite activities and special moments we’ve enjoyed this month.

Residents of Vineyard Place Memory Care in Murrieta, California, recently enjoyed a special visit from the Alliance Perris 17-and-under soccer team.

William Budagher, World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient, recently celebrated his 101st birthday with a big birthday bash at North Ridge Memory Care in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Residents of Emerald Place Memory Care in Glenview, Illinois, enjoyed a recent outing to Pesche's Gardening Center, where they selected an assortment of flowers to spruce up their courtyard.

Liberty Place Memory Care residents enjoy a visit to one of their favorite places, The Cone, a beloved local ice cream store in West Chester, Ohio.

Willow Springs Memory Care residents took a trip to their local library in Redding, California. Strolling through the stacks brought back memories of this resident’s lifetime love of reading.

A day at the zoo brought lots of smiles and some great conversation for residents of Savoy Place Memory Care. From exploring exhibits to enjoying a go-round on the gorgeous carousel, it was an outing that sparked interest, engagement, and fun.

Cascade Creek Memory Care residents in Rochester, Minnesota, always enjoy frequent visits from Annie, their favorite therapy dog. You can see how Annie gets as much out of these visits as the residents!

Father’s Day in Knoxville, Tennessee, was special at Concord Place Memory Care. Residents chose their dream roles, such as a sheriff in the Wild West, and watched them come to life as amazing AI-generated portraits!

Now that we’ve packed a lot of special moments into June, it’s on to July as we dig deeper into summer and the many special outings and purposeful activities planned at our Anthem Memory Care communities.

What do you have planned for July? Your own family gatherings can still be meaningful and enjoyable for a loved one living with dementia. With a little planning and thoughtful support, they can participate in the connection, conversation, and special moments alongside the rest of the family.

If you'd like ideas for making summer activities more comfortable and engaging for everyone, reach out to any of our Anthem communities. We’ll be happy to share tips and resources to help your loved one and your entire family make the most of the season. We're here to help!
