Visitors to our Anthem Memory Care communities often remark about the amazing life stories our residents share. And there are plenty of them! From accomplished artists and railroad engineers to talented opera singers, each person brings with them a lifetime of fascinating experiences and memories, many of which were celebrated this month.
Between outings, celebrations, and special projects, July has been a busy month. Together, we've explored museums, parks, and movie theaters, while also giving back through meaningful outreach programs that support our surrounding communities.
At Anthem Memory Care, we believe every day offers an opportunity to create new memories and moments of joy for our residents, their families, and everyone who walks through our doors. Here are a few of our favorites from July:
Willowbrook Place Memory Care in Littleton, Colorado, teamed up with Operation 4 Paws, an organization that rehomes pets from veterans and service members who can no longer care for them, for a special pet adoption event.
Emerald Place Memory Care in Glenview, Illinois, organized an outing to Chicago’s Illinois Railway Museum to celebrate a resident's past career working on the railroad and his ongoing passion for trains.
Harvester Place Memory Care in Burr Ridge, Illinois, held an art exhibit featuring the lifelong work of artist and resident Delores, who designed campaigns for iconic brands such as Coca-Cola, Kellogg's, Sears, and United Airlines. She went on to spend 41 years inspiring others as an art therapist.
For Make Someone Smile Day, Liberty Place Memory Care residents headed over to their local Chick-fil-A in West Chester, Ohio, to hand out beautiful flowers to unsuspecting guests and staff.
Concord Place Memory Care residents got in on a popular Instagram sensation: Jimothy the Raccoon! Turns out there is another “Jimothy” in Knoxville, Tennessee, and this visit proves it.
Highline Place Memory Care residents and staff spent a beautiful day at Chatfield Lake in Littleton, Colorado. Great conversations, a delicious picnic lunch, and lots of quality time spent enjoying the outdoors. A perfect way to relax and enjoy nature!

That is why we continually seek opportunities for our residents to share their passions, talents, and accomplishments that have shaped their lives. It not only honors who they are but also brings joy, purpose, and a connection to those around them.
If you are caring for a loved one with dementia, set aside time to reminisce together about the people, places, and milestones that have made their life unique. Invite them to share their stories with family members and friends and celebrate the memories that continue to inspire them. These conversations can strengthen relationships, preserve family history, and create meaningful moments for everyone.
